The 2024 and 2025 district Accountability ratings have been released by the Texas Education Agency (TEA) and Rosebud-Lott ISD has maintained a ‘B’ rating for two years in a row.
“The deciding factor in improving our district’s ratings has been our commitment to the five core principles with a sharp focus on data-driven instruction,” said Dr. James Rosebrock, superintendent of Rosebud-Lott ISD. “By combining research-based strategies, aligned curriculum, collaboration, effective communication, and a culture of care, our teachers ensured that every student was supported both academically and personally. This collective effort, anchored in our principles, has led to the significant gains we’re seeing as a district.”
Rosebud-Lott fared well as a district in the 2024 ratings, scoring a solid ‘B’ with an 85 and maintained it with an 86 for 2025. Each campus was also scored, adding to the overall rating of the district. Rosebud-Lott Elementary scored a 75 for 2024 and a 71 for 2025. Rosebud-Lott Middle School scored an 86 for 2024 and improved to a 91 for 2025. Rosebud-Lott High School scored a 94 in 2024 and maintained that rating for 2025.
The 2024 ratings were previously withheld from the districts due to a lawsuit over the reliability and consistency of the system instilled by the TEA. The schools argued that the lower ratings caused by the inconsistent system would hurt enrollment and funding, among other negative consequences. An appeal’s court ultimately reversed the decision to block the ratings, stating that what TEA was trying to do was not illegal.
“We still have some work to do,” Dr. Rosebrock said. “But I believe we have the right people that can do it and the right resources to support the effort.”
Efforts have increased this current school year to create an ‘A’ rated school district. Many new programs that have a record of success in other districts have been introduced this year in an effort to further support teachers in the classroom.
“While we celebrate this achievement, we remain focused on our ultimate goal, becoming an “A” rated district,” Dr. Rosebrock said. “With the continued support of our Board of Trustees, our dedicated staff, and the families who choose to send their children to Rosebud-Lott ISD, we are confident we will reach even greater heights.”
