Cougar Basketball Team to Begin Post-season Play

It is official, our Varsity Cougar Basketball Team will begin their post-season play next Tuesday night, February 20, at 8:00 p.m. in Robinson against the Riesel Indians. Our Coogs finished 2nd in district behind Bosqueville and tied with Crawford. Come on out next Tuesday and support our boys! Cougar Proud!!

Lady Coogs Finish Outstanding Season

Our Lady Cougar Basketball team played their hearts out on Monday night in the first round of the playoffs against the Axtell Longhorns in Midway. Unfortunately, they came up short and lost to the Lady Longhorns in a slow, defensive battle. Our Lady Coogs finished the year at 22-10. Thank you for a fantastic year!!

Band Students Headed to State

Several members of the Fighting Cougar Band competed in the annual UIL Solo and Ensemble Contest at Temple College this past Saturday. Twenty of them earned either a 1st or 2nd Division Rating with four of our students qualifying to move on to State: Hunter Rogers, Angel Ponce, Jasmine Portillo, and Jesusa Leon.

Lady Cougars Win Big!

Our JV and Varsity Lady Cougars played the Valley Mills Eagles here at home tonight. Our JV team walked away with an easy win to finish their season play. The Varsity Cougars fought back from a slow start to defeat the Eagles in overtime to win 2nd place in district and on to the playoffs!! Cougar Pride is Alive Tonight!!

Cougars Take Chilton Again!

Our Varsity Boys and Girls along with the JV Girls traveled to Chilton on Friday night to take on the Pirates at home. Our Lady Cougars dominated the Lady Pirates in both of their games to chalk up two more wins. Our Cougars played a very physical Pirate team to a 15-15 tie at the end of the first quarter but ran away with it from there winning by 40 points. All RLHS teams play here at home on Tuesday against Valley Mills. Go Cougars!

WOW, What A Night!!

Our Cougars took on the Bosqueville Bulldogs last night here in the Cougar Gym. Our Varsity Girls handled their Varsity Girls rather easily with a 22 point win as Coach Williams showed them a variety of personnel combinations on the court. Our Varsity Boys finished the evening with an outstanding victory over their previously unbeaten in district varsity boys team. Great job ladies and gentlemen! Cougar Proud!!

Cougar Band Earns Multiple Honors

Our RLHS & MS bands competed in the Cen-Tex Honor Band Competition on January 17 & 19. The competition included over thirty 2A and 3A schools with right at 1,000 students competing. The RLISD Fighting Cougar Band represented us well with ten students qualifying for the Symphonic (top) Band and eight more students qualifying for the Concert (second) Band. Cougars Split with the Powerful Pirates!

Our RLISD Cougar Basketball teams hosted the highly successful Crawford Pirates here in the Cougar Gym tonight. Our Varsity Girls and JV Boys played tenacious defense to pull out wins over the Pirates. While our Varsity Boys and JV Girls fought hard, they still came up a little short. All of our Cougars played their hearts out. Great Job Cougars! We are proud of you!!

Cougars Reign Supreme!

Our LES/RPS (RLES) Cougars have just earned their 2nd UIL District Championship in a row. Our 2nd through 5th grade students competed against Moody, Harmony Science, and Rapaport in Moody and have just concluded their back-to-back championship victory. Our Cougars earned 361 compared to their nearest competitor, Moody, with 216 points. Great Job Little Cougars!! We are proud of you!!
