Our Cougar Football team made it look easy tonight against their first district challenger. The Cougars (4-1) took on the Moody Bearkats (2-3) here on Cougar Field for their first district challenge of the year. The Cougars moved their record to 5-1 by beating the Bearkats 33-13. Great job Cougars! They play the Holland Hornets in Holland next Friday night.
Our Lady Cougar Volleyball team took care of their business tonight as they defeated the Oglesby Tigers in three sets tonight in Oglesby. This brings their district record to 11-1 with the big showdown with the Moody Bearkats here in the Cougar gym next Tuesday. Come on out to support our Lady Coogs!
Our RLISD Lady Cougar JV and Varsity XC teams competed in district today at the Heart of Texas Soccer Association in Waco. Our teams do not contain a single Junior or Senior. They are all Freshmen or Sophomores and they still managed to claim 4th place narrowly missing a trip for the entire team to Regionals. Freshman Emma Hering did finish in 8th place overall and will be traveling to Regionals on October 23 in Huntsville. Clara Coker also finished in 8th place on the JV team. Great job to all of our Lady Coogs!
It was a clean sweep for our Boys Cross Country Teams. Both JV and Varsity took home multiple individual medals and both earned the District Championship Trophy. This was the 4th year in a row as District Champions for our Varsity Boys. Congratulations to our young men and Coach Hoelscher!
Our Lady Coogs traveled to Bremond last night to face the Tigers in a battle for outright second place standing in district. The two team faced off a few weeks ago here in Travis where the Cougars won the 5th set to claim a 3-2 victory at home. This was a repeat performance on the road with our Lady Coogs winning 3-2 to claim 2nd place out right. They will now play Oglesby on Friday night on the road before facing Moody next Tuesday here at home for the district championship!
Our Cougars traveled all the way out to Meridian, as did a significant part of our community, to be the visiting team for the Meridian Yellow Jackets Homecoming. Although the Yellow Jackets gave it 100% to win their homecoming, our Cougars prevailed 35-30 to go 4-1 in non-district play. Our next game will be the Moody Bearkats in Cougar Stadium on Friday, October 13! Great job Cougars!!
